29-1 An Inside View of the Human Body

.

- In multicellular organisms groups of simmilar cells that work together to perform similar functions are called tissues.

- The human body consists of 4 main types of tissues:
  1. ) Epithelial tissue lines and protects many parts of the body on both inside and outside surfaces.
  2. ) Muscle tissue allows movement to occur in all parts of the body
  3. ) Nervous tissue sends signals through the body to allow cells to communicate.
  4. ) Connective tissue provides support with structural connective tissue, transports with sequestering connective tissue, and maintains health with defensive connective tissue.

- Several tissues working together make upp an organ.

- Several organs working together make up an organ system.
