- The Skin is the largest organ of the Humman Body.

-The Skin has Three Main Layers:

Epidermis:

Corneal Layer
(dead cells)

Protects from microbes and dehydration

Basal Layer
(living cells)
contains Melanocytes

Protects body from Ultra-violet Radiation

Dermis:

Hair Follicles
Sensory Nerve Cells
Sweat Glands
Blood Vessels

Helps to regulate the Body Temperature

Subcutaneous
Layer:

Fat Cells and
Blood Vessels

Insulates
and Conserves Body Heat

Carcinoma

mutation of non-pigment producing cells

Red, Bleeding Wart

Malignant
Melanoma

mutation of pigment producing melanocytes

Mole that changes shape or size

Acne

pores become clogged with oil and infected

-clogged pores form blackheads
-infecteed pores become inflamed

Psoriasis

inherited disorder, skin is produced and shed rapidly

raised red patches and scaley, white skin
