2.3 Falling Objects

.

- The constant acceleration of an object mooving only under the force of gravity is "g".

On Earth g = -9.8 m/s2

On the Moon g = -1.6 m/s2

- A final velocity can be calculated duringg a time period in free fall using the equation:

vf = gt

-The vertical displacement "y" that occurs during a specific time of free fall can be determined using the equation:

y = 1/2gt2

- A final velocity can be calculated over aa vertical displacement "y" during free fall using the equation:

vf2 = 2gy
