Goal:

-Students are to design and build a glidder that must be able to fly a minimum distance of 5 meters.

Rules:

-Students will work alone.
-The glider can only be made from the foollowing materials:
*Drinking Straws
*Styrofoam
*Paper
*Cardboard
*Balsa Stick
*Rubber Bands
*Paper Clip
*Tape
*Glue
*Clay/Playdoh
-The front wings must be less than 5 cm wide and no longer than 20 cm.
-The tail wings must be less than 3 cm wwide and no longer than 6 cm.
-The plane body can be no wider than 2 ccm.
-The maximum total dimensions cannot excceed:
·Height 5 cm
·Width 20 cm
·Length 20 cm
-Additions to the glider must stay withiin the listed dimensions.
-The decision of the judge (teacher) is final.
-Late projects will not be accepted.

Grading:

-Description and diagrams of the glider worth 10 points.
-Complete glider worth 5 points.
-Glider built within all specifications worth 20 points.
-Glider flys a distance of 5 meters wortth 5 points.
-Calculations of Thrust, Lift, Drag, Weiight and conclusion worth 10 points.
-Gliders tastefully decorated worth 5 EXXTRA CREDIT POINTS!
