Goal: -Have the fastest Water Bottle Racer accellerated by gravity.Rules: -Students will work alone.-The car must be made from a 12 to 20 ouncce plastic water bottle, which must remain intact, only small holes for the axels can exist. -The wheels must be at least 4.5 cm apart but no wider than 12 cm. -The axle must be at least 1.5 cm from thee ground. -The maximum total dimensions cannot exceeed: ·Height 15 cm ·Width 12 cm ·Length 23 cm -The maximum mass of the car is 200 g. > -Additions to the car must stay within thee listed dimensions. -The only source of energy for the car is gravitational potential energy (i.e. no rubber bands, jets, internal combustion or atomic powered engines!!!) -In order for the car to receive full creddit, it must roll down a track by itself and it must be painted. -The decision of the judge (teacher) is fiinal. -Late projects will not be accepted. Grading: -Description and diagrams of the racer worrth 10 points.-Complete racer worth 5 points. -Racer built within all specifications worrth 20 points. -Racer rolls down track by itself worth 5 points. -Calculations of acceleration, final veloccity, kinetic energy, coefficient of friction and conclusion worth 10 points. -Racers tastefully decorated worth 5 EXTRAA CREDIT POINTS! |
